Do you want to see who is spending money in your campus’ congressional district?

Annenberg Media has a tool for that.

Developed by Jackson Mills in collaboration with Kushal Bhanot of the website development team, the “follow the money” tool allows users to select their university and explore campaign contributions to congressional candidates from both major political parties.

The data for the website was pulled from the Federal Election Commission using a Python script, then cleaned and organized into a dataset. The web development team used the dataset to build the interactive website. Claude was also used to assist with coding the Python script.

Users whose universities are outside their congressional district can also select from California’s 52 congressional districts to explore campaign contributions elsewhere in the state.

Users who identify errors on the website can report them to Mills using the contact information listed on the site.
