Mayoral candidate and City Councilmember Nithya Raman campaigned at USC tailgates Saturday, greeting fans, playing games and dancing.

When asked if she thought campaigning at USC so close to Tuesday’s election could alienate UCLA fans, she told Annenberg Media she is bringing both colleges together.

“Actually my campaign, my candidacy is one of the few things that has brought UCLA and USC together,” Raman said, sporting a USC jersey. “Both of their student Democratic clubs have endorsed me and so I hope to make the case that I am the uniting force here in Los Angeles.”

The Trojan Democrats and Bruin Democrats both endorsed Raman’s campaign, she announced in an Instagram post Oct. 21.

Joining Raman on campus was City Controller Kenneth Mejia dressed in a Pikachu costume.
