In the latest Persona5: The Phantom X crossover, ATLUS has announced that title will be having a crossover with Persona 3 Portable, bringing along the beloved female protagonist, Kotone Shinomi on Sept. 24 globally in celebration of the series’ 30th anniversary. After being initially teased on July 2 of this year, fans now have an official date to look forward to for this special crossover.
In addition to Kotone making an appearance during the limited time event, Makoto Yuki, Yukari Takeba and Akihiko Sanada are returning to Persona5: The Phantom X and will be available for players to add these characters to their teams until June 26, 2027.
In addition to this crossover bringing Kotone into a modern release, the trailer features new art of Kotone and other characters from her unique storyline, including Saori Hasegawa and Rio Iwasaki. The trailer also features a remixed version of “A Way of Life,” a song exclusive to and associated with playing as Kotone in Persona 3 Portable.
Originally released for the PlayStation Portable on July 6, 2010, Persona 3 Portable brought along not only a way to enjoy the original Persona 3 story on the go, but introduced a new experience in the form of female protagonist Kotone Shiomi. However, up until the announcement of this crossover, Kotone was mostly relegated to the title she originated from with Persona 3 Reload, a remake of the original Persona 3 game, only featuring the original male protagonist. For the first time in almost 16 years, Kotone has been given the spotlight once again.
With 2026 representing the 30th anniversary of the Persona series, fans have been treated to what has been a year of non-stop celebrations and announcements. From fans of the various game soundtracks attending Persona Live 2026 to announcements regarding Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6, ATLUS has continued to make 2026 a year all about Persona.
