March has delivered one of the most competitive Final Fours in recent memory, with Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball, Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball, Illinois Fighting Illini men’s basketball, and UConn Huskies men’s basketball all advancing to Indianapolis. Each team took a different path through the bracket, but all four have shown they can handle pressure and win late, which is why they are still playing in April.

UConn enters the Final Four after one of the wildest games of the tournament. They came back from a 19-point deficit against Duke and won on a last-second three-pointer, which capped off a run that also included wins over UCLA and Michigan State. Their ability to respond under pressure has defined their tournament, and their experience in big moments continues to show. In the semifinal against Illinois, UConn will need to control tempo, limit turnovers, and find consistent scoring outside of their main options to avoid falling into long offensive droughts.

Illinois has been one of the biggest surprises of the tournament and has earned its spot through strong offensive play. The emergence of young talent and consistent scoring has pushed them past expectations and into their first Final Four in years. Their matchup with UConn will depend on whether they can keep their offense flowing against a disciplined defense and avoid giving away possessions. If Illinois can maintain efficiency and hit perimeter shots, they have a real chance to advance.

On the other side of the bracket, Arizona has looked like one of the most complete teams in the field. They have combined strong offensive balance with solid defense, which has helped them control games throughout the tournament. Their consistency has made them a serious title contender, and their ability to execute on both ends of the floor gives them a high ceiling. Against Michigan, Arizona will need to stay disciplined, protect the ball, and match physicality in the paint.

Michigan has built its run on toughness and defense, and it has shown the ability to dominate when playing at its best. They have handled strong opponents and bring one of the most well-rounded rosters into the Final Four. Their matchup with Arizona will likely come down to execution and physical play, and Michigan will need to control the boards and slow down Arizona’s offensive rhythm to move on.

The Final Four often comes down to small details, and that will be the case again this year. Guard play will determine how each team handles pressure, while rebounding and late-game execution will decide close matchups. Every team remaining has proven it can win, but the team that stays disciplined and controls the moment will be the one that reaches the national championship.
