Diabetes in the Native American population is a public health crisis. Runningbear Ramirez, a well-respected philanthropist and board member of Project Angel Food, began the vision to help Native Americans with diabetes by educating and providing medically tailored food. Project Angel Food will provide two meals a day for three months to each participant. Dr. Claradina Soto heads the research and is assisted by Dr. Andrea Garcia. The efforts of the research leader are to improve health as well as expand the resources to other Native American communities.
