My dad was a Vietnamese boat refugee
15 years old. That’s how old Bố (my dad) was when he fled Vietnam to escape political persecution by the Communists. I thought it would be valuable to reflect on and share Bố’s life story. These stories transcend borders and time. They can benefit my peers as well, offering us necessary and meaningful life lessons as we enter the next chapter of our lives.

Social media should creatively enhance stories and engage readers, not simply present information. Instagram, Twitter and other social media applications present the opportunity to think outside of the box in order to make an impact on news consumers and democratize news.

Taking the time to talk to team members can greatly improve a newscast. After all, putting together a show could not be made possible without the teamwork of MJs, reporters, anchors, art directors, television directors, co-producers, the executive producer and more.
