INGLEWOOD. Calif. — The Clippers’ backcourt made a statement on opening night against the Sacramento Kings.
Keaton Wagler shined in his NBA debut with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, complementing veteran Darius Garland’s 30 points to help LA win 121-96.
That wasn’t all. Brook Lopez scored 17 points off the bench, helping the Clippers start off on the right foot after posting a dismal 6-21 record to begin last season.
The Kings struggled from the jump and never led. Standout rookie Darius Acuff Jr. couldn’t find a rhythm, forcing Zach LaVine and Domantas Sabonis to carry the load. The Clippers’ defense largely shut down Sacramento, tallying five blocks.
