Go Greek Yogurt, a popular frozen yogurt chain that brands itself as “authentic Greek yogurt,” plans to open a location by USC on Figueroa Street in early 2027, a company official confirmed to Annenberg Media.
The shop will open in a vacant storefront between Thai by Trio and Five Guys, beneath West 27th Place apartments.
The company currently has five locations across Los Angeles County in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Studio City, Larchmont Village and Brentwood. Selling traditional Greek yogurt with ingredients imported directly from Europe, the store says it offers nutritious and sugar-free toppings in the hopes of “sparking a healthy living revolution.”
Simge Tepeli, a junior studying architecture, said she got Go Greek Yogurt a few days ago and was complaining about how far the other L.A. County locations are from campus.
“I like that it’s pretty fast,” Getepeli said. “They make [the yogurt] for you there. You get full after you eat it, so when you’re starving, it’s just a really fast, healthy snack in my opinion.”
Jiya Patel, a junior studying public relations and advertising, said she would have preferred a Salt & Straw or Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams to fulfill her ice cream fix. Salt & Straw has 11 Los Angeles county locations, while Jeni’s has shopfronts in both L.A. and San Diego.
“There’s [a Go Greek Yogurt] right next to my house, and there’s one right where I worked over the summer, and so I was like, wait, another one?” Patel said. “I think there are better ice cream and yogurt places out there. But my roommates that aren’t from Los Angeles are absolutely obsessed with the idea, so I’m happy for them.”
Jessie Ji, a junior studying anthropology and communication, had heard a frozen yogurt shop would be opening, but did not know where.
“I love froyo, and I feel like the Yogurtland nearby is too sweet,” Ji said. “So I would try out [Go Greek Yogurt] for new options.”
Go Greek Yogurt won’t be the newest addition to USC’s dining scene. Gogobop Korean Rice Bar opened at USC Village in late July after Tenori, a Japanese onigiri store, opened July 1 on Figueroa Street, and Heytea, a Chinese tea store, opened next door May 8.
“It’s just part of L.A.’s vibe that new things are always opening up,” Patel said. “There are pros and cons to it, but it’s always fun to explore something new.”
