The Chinese American Student Association celebrated its annual Chinese American Culture Night in collaboration with the Asian Pacific Cinema Association in the TCC Ballroom on April 24.

Students came together to enjoy a night of food, activities, live music and other performances. Several student organizations like Crescendo, Traditional Chinese Dance, Trogans Acapella and Chaotic 3 performed throughout the evening. There was also a performance from Jade Lotus Lion Dance, UCLA’s student-led lion dance team.

Students were also able to take pictures in a photo booth, learn about traditional Chinese calligraphy writing and win various prizes as the night went on.

The final headliner of the evening was hongjoin, a Singaporean-born singer. His set included indie pop and R&B songs from his albums “Komorebi” and “F(OOL)” as well as a performance of tracks from his upcoming album, “CLOCKWORK‚” which is releasing on May 29. Students also cheered for hongjoin’s cover of “DAISIES” by Justin Bieber in homage to Bieber’s Coachella performance earlier this April.

At the end of honjoin’s set, he jumped down from the stage and joined the audience as everyone sang Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” in a heartwarming close to the event.
