Young Americans losing faith in government ahead of midterms

A new Harvard Kennedy School poll shows growing disillusionment among young Americans, with half saying they feel they have no say in government and just 26% expressing hope for the country’s future. As the 2026 midterms approach, turnout remains uncertain, with only about a third saying they will definitely vote. Still, some students remain optimistic, pointing to increased political engagement and the potential for change.
