On March 25, Kadokawa Production officially confirmed the production of a fourth season of “OSHI NO KO,” marking the conclusion of the animated show. As the third season of the show comes to a close, fans can rejoice knowing the series will have an animated finale. A final season trailer and poster were released alongside the announcement.
“OSHI NO KO” follows the story of Dr. Gorou Amamiya and his recently deceased patient Sarina Tendōji, who are reincarnated as the Aqua Hoshino and Ruby Hoshino, the children of their favorite music idol, Ai Hoshino. After Ai is murdered by a stalker who was given the address to their apartment, Aqua and Ruby make it their life goal to find who orchestrated the murder and avenge their mother.
The series originally began as a manga (Japanese comic) series written by Aka Akasaka, known for “Kaguya-sama: Love Is War,” and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. The animated adaptation is produced by animation studio Doga Kobo, with the first episode of the season airing in April 2023. The series currently spans 35 episodes over three seasons.
During April 15-23, 2023 when the show first aired, “OSHI NO KO” was the sixth most popular in demand show in the U.S. according to Parrot Analytics. Also during its debut, the show shot up to the number one spot on popular anime rating site, MyAnimeList as reported by IGN India. The combination of a well-received first episode covering the first 10 chapters of the manga, the same author behind “Kaguya-sama: Love Is War” and the opening theme “アイドル” (Idol) produced by J-Pop duo YOASOBI, “OSHI NO KO” has garnered a loyal fanbase eager to see the story through to its conclusion.
