Trump holds legislation over SAVE Act

President Trump says, he won’t sign any new legislation until the SAVE America Act passes Congress. The bill would require proof of citizenship for voter registration and voting, limit mail-in ballots, and create federal election databases. Experts warn these measures could impact college students, rural voters, and low-income communities — and may have a major impact on the 2026 midterms.
