On a cold, dark night in Inglewood, few things could warm the body and soul like a concert at the Kia Forum. On Jan. 24, thousands of fans gathered to feel this warmth with K-Pop group TWICE. Boasting beautiful, elaborate outfits and smiles wider than the venue itself, ONCE (fans of TWICE) of all ages and backgrounds experienced a show like no other: TWICE’s third of four shows in Los Angeles as a part of their “This Is For World Tour.”

After taking photographs of the fittingly pink-lit Forum, snapping shots at photo ops scattered throughout the stadium and trading homemade freebies, fans poured into their seats while the lights dimmed. As cinematically directed videos and bright lights cut through the darkness, the crowd erupted in a united roar, one that can only be experienced in person. Suddenly, nine silhouettes appear on stage: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.

TWICE was formed out of K-Pop survival show “Sixteen” in 2015, and quickly rose to domestic fame, winning Song of the Year 3 consecutive years at the 2018 Mama event. Borders could not contain TWICE’s popularity. In 2019, TWICE embarked upon their first world tour, hosting their first-ever North American concert at The Forum that year.

Upon their previous visit to Los Angeles in June 2023, TWICE became the first female K-Pop group to sell out SoFi Stadium, just two months after being honored as the first Korean act to win the Breakthrough Artist Award at Billboard’s Women in Music event in March.

“As a woman, it was very empowering to see, like, other women be able to sell out a big stadium, like SoFi Stadium,” said Leah Han, a fan who attended the concert.

Despite being their third night performing in Los Angeles, the group showed no signs of slowing down. Throughout the entire concert, fans could be heard ecstatically cheering and singing in sync with TWICE’s all-out performance. Through their music and choreography, the “This Is Four Tour” is beyond merely a concert, but rather a special experience that brought thousands together.

Each night, TWICE presented fans with over two hours of their greatest hits, deeper cuts and solo tracks. With songs and tracks dating as far back as 2016’s “TT” to last year’s “TAKEDOWN,” featured in the global film phenomenon “K-Pop Demon Hunters, the group placed ten years of K-Pop dominance on full display.

The show consisted of four acts and an encore featuring a total of 32 of the group’s most iconic music from their ten-year run. For fans new and old to TWICE’s music, there was something for every fan to be excited about.

TWICE is not to be mistaken as a legacy act, however. Ten years into their career, the girls are debatably stronger than ever. With some of their most recent songs in 2025, including “TAKEDOWN” and “THIS IS FOR‚” garnering hundreds of millions of plays on Spotify in their first year of release, becoming some of the group’s highest-streamed songs of all time.

In an industry that rewards youth, with dozens of groups debuting each year featuring members who seemingly grow younger and younger, finding longevity at the top is no small feat. Celebrating their 10-Year Anniversary in October of last year, TWICE have transcended the status of “industry veterans” and cemented themselves as K-Pop royalty.

“They’ve gone through ten years without any change to their roster at all. And I think that’s pretty crazy,” said Nathaniel Rodriguez, a fan who attended the concert. “No matter how much K-netizens (online K-Pop fans) or fans try to tear them down, they still come out, and they still show up and everything.”

More than just a concert, the “This Is For World Tour” felt like a celebration of the massive strides K-Pop has taken toward global acceptance and its upward trajectory. While K-Pop artists may sell out stadiums around the world today, 10 years ago, this was far from the case.

“It took a while for it to get mainstream in Western culture, but as soon as it did it takes off,” said Rodriguez. “I’m from Fresno originally … It was very stigmatized in a negative way. So if you like those things, you were seen as weird.”

However, since TWICE’s initial debut, the genre has gone from a fringe interest to a global sensation to be taken seriously. TWICE has played a massive role in this shift, being the first exposure to K-Pop for many. For many Gen-Z fans, TWICE hooked them in with their youthful sound and aesthetics in their youth, and kept them coming back by growing alongside them.

Life changes, our friends, who we are as people, what we do, there are very few constants that span for long periods of time within our lives. For fans of TWICE, the “This Is For World Tour” served as a reminder that no matter what changes they face, TWICE will always be nine.

The “This Is For World Tour” will continue visiting major cities across the U.S. and Europe, concluding in London on June 3, marking a full year of TWICE for fans around the world.
