LOS ANGELES — Brandt Clarke and Kevin Fiala scoring for the Los Angeles Kings against the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday wasn’t a surprise; both have been consistent sources of production for LA this season and have cashed in when needed.

But the same couldn’t be said about the rest of the Kings. Wasted opportunities and needless penalties defined the 3-2 overtime loss — but head coach Jim Hiller didn’t shy away from giving his team credit after the final horn.

“[We] know how hard [we’re] playing,” said Hiller. “[We’re] playing nose-to-nose with the best teams in the NHL … As emotional as it is, [we] know [we’re] right there.”

While the Kings kept things close, including tying the game with under two minutes left in regulation, they’ve now lost four of their last five games, with two in overtime. Mikey Anderson and Adrian Kempe each described the loss as “frustrating,” as the LA Kings continue to drop points in similar ways.

Talk of Troy reporter Kasey Kazliner was present at Crypto.com Arena and talked over the game on Skate of Thrones, TOT’s Kings podcast.
