On Wednesday, USC Interim President Beong-Soo Kim announced the university’s current Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer Joel Curran will leave the university at the end of December.
In a letter to the USC community on Wednesday, Kim announced that Vice President of Executive Communications and Strategic Initiatives Megan Jordan will step into the role as interim SVP and CCO beginning Jan. 1, 2026.
Kim wrote in the letter that Curran was stepping down to “(return) to his native North Carolina to consult and be closer to his wife and family.” Curran has served as SVP and CCO since June 2023.
Jordan graduated from the USC Annenberg School for Communications and Journalism with a bachelor’s degree in public relations in 1992, and has also served as part of the board of advisors of the USC Center for Public Relations since 2018.
She took on the role of vice president of executive communications and strategic initiatives in 2024 and had previously served as Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at Claremont McKenna College. She is also currently an adjunct professor at Annenberg and has previously worked in corporate communications for companies including Southern California Edison, Herbalife and Kaiser Permanente.
