Senate advances deal that could end nation’s longest shutdown

The Senate approved a bipartisan measure, but left out a key Democratic priority—extending health care subsidies under the Affordable Care Act.

Lawmakers are moving closer to ending the record-long government shutdown. A decision will be made Wednesday night if the House approves a funding bill that will fund most federal agencies until January 30.
