LOS ANGELES — Coming off a 5-0-1 road trip, the Kings welcomed one of the hottest teams to Crypto.com Arena, the Detroit Red Wings.

Los Angeles allowed two power-play goals in the game and appeared to be out of luck until they pulled Darcy Kuemper late in the third period. With a 6-on-5 advantage, first-year King Corey Perry scored two goals to force overtime.

Kevin Fiala appeared to have scored LA’s game-winning score in overtime, but replay review showed that he interfered with goalie Cam Talbot, which waived the goal off. Instead, Detroit prevailed in the shootout, which was the Kings’ third shootout game of the season.

The Kings were without Trevor Moore, who sat out due to personal reasons.

Kings reporter Kasey Kazliner analyzed the Kings’ loss on Skate of Thrones, Talk of Troy’s Kings podcast.
