For Día de los Muertos, a bakery honors immigrants who’ve died in detention centers

Inside a small Mexican bakery on the Westside, an altar welcomes back the souls of deceased loves ones. Every October into early November, the owners of Venice Bakery and Restaurant commemorate those important to their family and community. But, this year’s altar is different. It honors those who’ve died in immigrant detention centers, or as a result of immigration enforcement.
