The World Series is back and in full motion. After their troubling game one loss on Friday, the Dodgers made a statement on Saturday with their 5-1 victory — tying the series.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto was on the bump for Game 2, and was easily the highlight of it all. His nine inning complete game marks his second straight in the series.

Through nine innings, Yoshi only allowed one earned run while striking out eight, allowing no walks. His ability to get batters to create soft contact at the plate against his six effective pitches has become a force to be reckoned with.

The superstar pitcher had some help from his offense, particularly by his catcher Will Smith. Smith started the scoring off in the first inning with an RBI single, and later in the seventh inning, he powered a solo home run to left field against Kevin Gausman. He also had an RBI groundout situation an inning later, which brought him to three runs on the game.

Left-handed infielder Max Muncy also had a long shot in the seventh inning– his second homer so far in this World Series.

Yamamoto’s nine innings showcased the impact that he has, and validates the $325 million dollar contract that the Dodgers gave him. His dominance on the mound late into games has helped this team tremendously, especially with their bullpen struggles as of late.

The series now moves back to Los Angeles for Game three. Veteran Max Scherzer will take on Dodgers Tyler Glasnow on the mound for what has the potential to be once another exhilarating playoff game
