Kaiser Permanente staff launch five-day strike across West Coast

More than 46,000 Kaiser Permanente healthcare workers walked off the job this morning in what union leaders call a fight for “safe staffing” and fair wages. From South Bay to Baldwin Park, nurses and other staff picketed in the rain, accusing Kaiser of failing to show up to recent bargaining sessions. The company says it’s keeping hospitals open and that union demands are “out of step” with economic realities.
