Former Los Angeles deputy mayor and L.A. Unified School District superintendent Austin Beutner has entered the race against his former boss, Mayor Karen Bass. He cites city challenges and his nonprofit work with low-income students. Analysts say he could be a strong contender, though a potential Rick Caruso run could split the opposition. The L.A. mayoral election is set to take place June 2, 2026.
