The transition for veterans coming home after serving their country can become one of their greatest challenges.
“To do that for 27 years and then transition,” said John Stefan, a retired master gunnery sergeant, “you’re left holding the ball by yourself with nobody there to support. It’s difficult to deal with.”
Stefan and Adan Mendoza, a retired staff sergeant, share what it was like to come back to the United States after serving in the U.S. Marines and U.S. Army, respectively. Through therapy and hobbies like motorcycling, the men found ways to cope with their trauma in their lives post-service.
