Doe v. Knights

Survivors and legal experts discuss abuse at the hands of a Knights of Columbus leader.

The Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal and charitable organization, became the center of a scandal involving a former athletics coach.

“One of the great tragedies of the last 20 years is that...every religious organization is perfectly capable of letting children be sexually abused and covering it up,” said Marci Hamilton, founder and CEO of nonprofit Child USA.

More than 100 boys accused Knights of Columbus coach Kenneth McLaughlin of sexual abuse over many years. Eventually, a lawsuit was settled between both parties. Experts familiar with the case explain how it is part of a bigger problem involving sexual abuse.
