Fans of The Beatles will have a lot to look forward to in 2028. Not one, not two, and not even three movies will be coming to the silver screen...It’ll be a quadrilogy of films!
Each release will follow one member of the Fab Four, with all of them releasing together in April. Director Sam Mendes’ production company, Neal Street, announced that Paul Mescal will star as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.
We spoke to students around the campus to hear if they plan on buying “A Ticket to Ride” or making that four tickets to ride!
“It’s not necessarily who I would’ve picked. In my opinion, none of them really look like The Beatles, especially Barry Keoghan,” said Lizzie Mar-Coo, a senior studying music industry.
Winn Scott, a film and television production major, is eager to see the feasibility of a four-film feature.
“People have been saying online... It’s like a fourteen-year-old girl who casts all her favorite celebrities right now. I kind of see that, but I think all of them can fulfill the roles really well. I really like Paul Mezcal as Paul McCartney because they do look a lot alike,” Scott said.
This isn’t the first time The Beatles have hit Hollywood. A black and white film called “A Hard Day’s Night” launched the Beatles’ acting career during peak Beatlemania, and was quickly followed by “Help,” “The Magical Mystery Tour,” “Yellow Submarine,” and “Let It Be.”
Multiple tributes have also been made about the group, such as the 2007 musical film “Across the Universe.”
There are rumors that the new Beatles films will “Come Together,” Avengers style, into a fifth group movie. For now, fans will just have to “Act Naturally.”
