The United States Army Corps and associated Reserve Officer Training Corps “has taken immediate steps” in complying with the executive order signed by President Donald Trump titled “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing,” according to a statement to Annenberg Media.
The January 20 executive order terminated diversity, equity and inclusion across the federal government, leading to the U.S. Army and Navy removing any information that highlighted women soldiers and sailors on each of its respective websites.
This removal could lead to change in policy for women and other groups who fall under DEI inclusion protocol enrolled in ROTC programs across college campuses.
“These steps include a review by the U.S. Army Cadet Command of its Army ROTC curriculum to ensure all ROTC lessons complied with DOD policies, whereafter Cadet Command made minor updates to the curriculum,” U.S. Army Cadet Command spokesperson Major Dan Lessard, who oversees the Army’s ROTC programs nationwide, said in the statement.
USC ROTC has not made a statement or updated its official website, but the “updates to the curriculum” follow similar disassembling and destructing of DEI-ingrained departments.
In addition to the military, several prominent companies including Target, Pepsi and Disney, have also responded to this executive order by dismantling their diversity initiatives.
Target announced it would pull back on racial hiring targets, end its Racial Equity Action and Change program and cease participation in external diversity surveys.
“Radical” and “wasteful” are used to describe DEI programming in the executive order. The website claims that DEI programs are being removed due to upholding “immoral discrimination.”
“Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) is in the process of reviewing and updating their online content to ensure compliance with directives outlined in Executive Orders issued by the President,” Lauren Chatmas, a Navy spokesperson told Military Times.
