LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Kings’ tilt with the Pittsburgh Penguins was LA’s first at home since Jan. 4 due to the city’s tragic wildfires and altered scheduling.

The Penguins, entering as victors of only two of their last 10 games, reigned supreme over the Kings, with goals from Kevin Hayes, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Cody Glass and Anthony Beauvillier. Pittsburgh hit the net in all three periods and overwhelmed Los Angeles’ defensive core.

Adrian Kempe scored his team-leading 23rd goal of the season on a power play for LA, but his tally was nowhere near enough.

”It was definitely not our game tonight,” said captain Anže Kopitar. “From top to bottom, we didn’t get anything going.”

Talk of Troy reporter Kasey Kazliner was present at Crypto.com Arena and shared his analysis and breakdown of the Kings’ 5-1 loss on the first edition of Skate of Thrones, TOT’s LA Kings podcast.
