This Halloween the historic Figueroa Hotel in downtown L.A. is home not only to a lavish Halloween party, but to a vote center.
This morning, poll worker Xavier Agundez anticipated a busy evening downtown. He said the Figueroa Hotel vote center would be open until 7 p.m., around the time the celebrating starts.
“I know there’s Halloween parties over here, in the Arts District, also towards the warehouses right here by the Fashion District,” he said, “definitely in some of the hotels up here by Seventh and Figueroa.”
Which meant, perhaps, that some Halloween revelers could drop by. Agundez said it’s important for voters to know that even though it’s Halloween, early voting is open all around Los Angeles County.
“I think everybody knows that the election is coming up this next Tuesday, November 5, and whoever doesn’t know that probably hasn’t been paying attention,” he said.
The L.A. County Registrar-Recorder’s office is encouraging Halloween revelers to drop by their local vote center and cast a ballot -- in their costumes. Local in-person vote centers are open until 7 p.m. through Nov. 4, and until 8 p.m. on Election Day Nov. 5.
