Later tonight, Greek life students are hosting their annual community trick or treating festivities. We spoke to some of the organizers about the importance of the event.

Sofia Manley, a Junior Communications Major in Pi Beta Phi shares her excitement about engaging with community members of South Central LA near USC’s campus.

“I think it’s so important to really just engage with those around us and just really recognize that it’s not just us here,” Manley said. “And I also think we’re all kids at one point, so kind of giving back now that we’re in college is so cool. And I think selfishly too, we all kind of like to reminisce and nostalgia a little bit, but I think we’re all excited to give back to community and our philanthropy, too has to deal with, like elementary school kids. So we love kids, and we have great connections with them in the community.”

Junior Alpha Phi member, Isabella Del Gaudio, is a Political Science Major on the Pre Law track who can’t get enough of the tradition. She is returning for her 3rd Halloween while at USC.

“It’s the bare minimum of what we can do as students of USC, as we serve the community in which we’re living in and we’re kind of occupying right now,” Del Gaudio said. “So it’s just amazing, and I’m so glad, and I can’t wait to meet all the friendly folks that just live so close to us.”
