LAPD details safety plan for potential Dodgers’ victory

If the L.A. Dodgers win game five of the World Series, they will be crowned champions and a parade will follow.

Game five of the World Series is underway, and if the Los Angeles Dodgers win tonight against the New York Yankees they’ll be returning home victorious with their eighth World Series title.

It also means that Angelenos will be celebrating.

The LAPD has a plan for safety procedures if the Dodgers do take home the win.

“While the Dodgers are still one win away from winning the World Series, the LAPD is already prepared for if (and hopefully when) they do,” Assistant Chief of the LAPD Blake Chow said in a statement.

The LAPD says it has made plans to monitor the city with high-visibility patrol units and additional resources if needed. Police will be on the lookout for things like drunk driving and street takeovers that put people at risk.

“While we understand the excitement surrounding the Dodgers, we are asking the public to please celebrate responsibly,” said Chow.

The Dodgers’ last World Series win was in 2020, during the pandemic, robbing the city of a victory parade. If they win this year, there will no doubt be a parade, the first since their 1988 win.
