With Dedeaux Field still under construction for another year, the USC baseball team announced this past week that it will hold 24 of their 29 home games at Great Park in Irvine and the remaining five games at Page Stadium on the campus of Loyola Marymount.
Last year, the Trojans split games between Great Park, Page Stadium and UC Irvine’s Cicerone Field. Like the 2024 season, all USC home games will “be free and open to the public.” USC will also have 27 road games as part of its 2025 schedule as it transitions conferences from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten.
This season, USC will face off against seven teams who made the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The Trojans will play 11 teams that they played in 2024 and among those repeat opponents, USC posted a 12-10 record against those teams last year.
USC opens the season at home with a three-game series against George Washington from February 14-16. Its first midweek games are against UCI — who made the NCAA Tournament despite losing to the Trojans twice last year — at Cicerone Field on February 18. The following night, USC hosts CSU Bakersfield at Page Stadium before flying out to Rice from February 21-23. USC will then play the first of two visits to Cal State Fullerton on the 25th, then facing the Titans at Goodwin Field on March 11. Last season, USC swept the season series against the Titans, beating them twice on the road.
In partnership with UCLA, the Trojans will host UConn and Vanderbilt, who both made the NCAA Tournament last year, on February 28 and March 1 respectively at Great Park, before facing the Bruins in a non-conference game the following day at a location that has yet to be determined. Last year, UCLA won the final two games of the three-game Crosstown Showdown series in Westwood.
Two days later, the Trojans face UC Santa Barbara at Page Stadium. Last year, the Gauchos were the No. 14 Seed in the NCAA tournament before falling in the regional final to Oregon, which should make for a competitive matchup for the Trojans. USC then heads back down to Irvine to take on Oregon, USC’s first Big Ten conference slate, from March 7 to 9. Last year, USC dropped two games to the NCAA Tournament-bound Ducks in Eugene before winning the series finale and the team’s round robin matchup of the Pac-12 Tournament in Scottsdale.
The Trojans then make their first trip into Big Ten territory to face Michigan in Ann Arbor from March 14-16. The Trojans hosted the Wolverines last season at Page Stadium and lost 8-5.
Next, USC takes on a former Pac-12 foe in Arizona State — now in the Big 12 — in Tempe two days later. The Trojans faced the Sun Devils last year in Tempe as well, but only managed to win the series finale, with ASU winning the first two games that weekend. USC then comes home to host Nebraska in Irvine — one of three Big Ten teams to make the NCAA Tournament in 2024 — from March 21 to 23 and will host UCI at Page Stadium two days later. USC then heads to Bloomington for a three game series with Indiana, who also made the NCAA Tournament last year, from March 28 to 30.
The Trojans open up April with a game on the first against San Diego State at Great Park before hosting Ohio State in Irvine for three games starting April 4. Last year, the Buckeyes beat USC 5-2 in Mesa, Arizona as part of the MLB Desert Invitational. The Trojans will then play LMU at Page Stadium on April 8. Last year, LMU beat USC 5-3 at Page Stadium.
USC then travels to play at Penn State from April 11-13 before coming back to LMU to host Hawaii on the 15th and Gonzaga in Irvine for three games starting on the 17th. The Trojans walloped the Bulldogs last year 15-3 in Spokane in a non-conference matchup. USC then pays a visit to Long Beach State on April 22. The Trojans and Dirtbags split their season series last year, with USC winning the first game and LBSU winning the rematch.
The Trojans stay on the road to face Minnesota from April 25-27 and CSUN on the 29th. USC then will host rival UCLA for the Crosstown Showdown, which will take place at Great Park from May 2-4, with the Trojans thirsting for revenge after losing the series last year. After, the Trojans travel to UCSB for the rematch with the Gauchos two days later. USC’s final homestand will consist of hosting Michigan State from May 9-11 and CSUN at Page Stadium on May 13 before ending the regular season at Washington from May 15-17. Last season, the Trojans swept the Huskies at Great Park.
Should USC be one of the eight highest ranked teams in conference play at the conclusion of the regular season, they will be invited to the Big Ten Tournament at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The tournament will take place from May 20-25 and the winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Last season, USC went 31-28 overall and 17-12 in Pac-12 play, good for fourth place in the conference. After one of the worst starts in team history, the Trojans started to show improvement during conference play and clawed their way to the final of the Pac-12 Tournament, but fell to Arizona on a walk-off base hit to lose 4-3 and did not earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
After the season ended, head coach Andy Stankiewicz, who is entering his third season in charge, announced that Sean Allen would replace Seth Etherton as the team’s pitching coach. Allen brings Big Ten experience to the USC coaching staff, as he spent the past two years with Ohio State.
USC’s first pitch as a Big Ten member will be February 14, when the Trojans host Georgetown at Great Park to start their 2025 campaign.
