Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, a senior linebacker who transferred to USC from Oregon State, is rapidly establishing himself as a figure on the Trojans’ defense. Mascarenas-Arnold’s transition to USC has been marked by significant contributions on the field and strong leadership.

In the past two games, Arnold’s performance has stood out. Against LSU, he recorded two solo tackles and four assisted tackles, playing a crucial role in controlling the Tigers’ offense. His efforts were even more pronounced in the matchup against Utah State, where he made four solo tackles and three assisted tackles. His consistent presence reflects his growing impact on the defense and his adaptability in high-pressure situations.

Head coach Lincoln Riley has been particularly impressed with Mascarenas-Arnold’s influence since his arrival.

“Yeah, he’s very steady. He did a good job of coming in and getting to know the guys and trying to win the respect of the locker room,” Riley remarked.

Riley noted that Mascarenas-Arnold’s leadership stems from his reliability.

“One of the best characteristics as a leader is being steady,” Riley said. “Not being one person one day and different the next, where people know exactly what they can expect out of you.”

Mascarenas-Arnold’s steadiness and reliability provide the team with a dependable presence, which is essential for building cohesion and confidence.

Redshirt senior offensive lineman Jonah Monheim also praised Mascarenas-Arnold’s leadership and dedication.

“He’s certainly stepped into that role from the day he got here, and it starts with his work ethic,” Monheim said.

Mascarenas-Arnold’s strong work ethic, combined with his natural leadership abilities, has allowed him to quickly become a cornerstone of the Trojans’ defense.

“He’s a great dude on and off the field, and he really takes pride in everything he does,” Monheim said.
