Westbound E-line trains were stopped and sent backward after what L.A. Metro called a “train-car incident” on Wednesday afternoon, which reportedly left one injured.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. near the Expo/Western station, two blocks from USC campus. One passenger on the train involved in the collision said the car’s driver attempted a U-turn, leaving the metro with no room to stop, resulting in a collision.

“The train just hard brakes all of a sudden, and everyone was kind of shocked,” said Clera Rodrigues, a USC student riding on the first car of the train at the time of the crash. “Some people’s belongings fell over, and people might have tripped behind me.”

Rodrigues said she saw one person injured, and at least one child at the scene of the accident, whom she described as “distressed.” She said that at 1:37 p.m. trains began moving again, after LAFD and LAPD arrived at the scene. However, around 2 p.m., all passengers were asked to exit the train at the La Cienega/Jefferson stop, and the train continued westbound empty.

Shortly after, L.A. Metro posted on X that tracks were cleared and “normal E-line service has resumed.”
