This coming year’s USC football season will be a transformational one for the Trojans. Between switching to the Big 10, the loss of Heisman trophy winning quarterback Caleb Williams, and new defensive coordinator D’anton Lynn, this season is sure to look different. Even with these changes, sophomore Kira Oglesby is still looking forward to the season, which she expects will have its ups and downs!

Kira Oglesby: I’m really scared, but you know, I’m a die hard Trojan fan. I think we’ll beat Wisconsin. I don’t think we’ll beat Michigan, but I think we’ll beat Ohio State.

This weekend’s spring game helps the football team build up excitement for the fall season, and lets coaches test their players to see how they do under the spotlight. The team is divided into two and then they play against one another. Miller Moss is a junior and he’s expected to be the Trojan’s new starting QB - after making headlines in this winter’s holiday bowl - yet some students like junior quantitative biology major Blair Batson are still unsure if anyone could live up to the legacy of Caleb Williams.

Blair Batson: I definitely don’t think that they’ll be as good just because he’s really good, but I think that they can figure it out. Maybe they’ll get someone really good to replace him or maybe like someone else will shine.

Freshman environmental engineering major David Mosley says not to judge the new team too quickly.

Mosley: I think it’ll definitely be a blow probably early on in the fall, but I think that with Miller Moss is a new quarterback. The team will kind of rally behind him in the later games, and I think we’ll still finish strong next season, but it might be a little slow in the beginning.

The change students are most looking forward to is the new defensive coach D’anton Lynn, who replaced Alex Grinch. Lynn is the former defensive coordinator for our UCLA rivals, and this Saturday will be Lynn’s USC football debut.

Moseley: Honestly, I’m really excited that we have a new defensive coordinator after the debacle that was last season in terms of our defense. I’m just excited for any good change after that. I’m really excited to see what he has for next season.

Fans can see the Trojans in action this Saturday at the Coliseum. Admission is free for everyone... the students and the surrounding community! The team will kick off at noon, and their BIG10 legacy will begin!
