“You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

This is just one of many iconic lines that have come from Christopher Nolan. A two-time Academy Award winning director, Nolan has made his mark in the film world with hits such as Inception, Interstellar, The Dark Knight and recently, Oppenheimer.

But these blockbuster films are making a return from the past as a part of Regal movie theater’s “Forever Favorites.”

The best part? They’ll only cost you five bucks to watch or re-watch.

Senior business student Tiffany Damon says she is excited to see Tenet after missing out when it first released.

Damon: I’d actually want to see Tenet because I didn’t get to see it. I don’t know. Maybe I was like, busy or something but ... the fact that we have like an opportunity to like, revisit that theatrical experience with his movies is great.

Senior theater student Greta Cox says she would love to revisit other older films besides just Nolan’s.

Cox: Probably Greta Gerwig’s films. I like her direction a lot and how she like makes films look aesthetically. I also like a lot of like old timey movies like singing in the rain. I think those would be fun to see in the theater again.

Box office sales have plummeted since the pandemic. But Senior psychology student Ekaterina Tusken thinks the cheap five-dollar tickets will help bring more people back into movie theaters.

Tusken: I think so. Especially since like, movie ticket prices have like, increased a lot. Going for like $5, everyone will be like, that’s such a steal. And if you haven’t seen a movie, you’re like, oh, like maybe you wanted to see that when it originally came out and you didn’t.

Damon adds that this marketing strategy is beneficial on both profit and cultural levels.

Damon: I do because I think it’ll remind people that the theatrical experience is very unique. And then when a film is released, that first 90 days is like their only opportunity to go see it in theaters. So I think it’s a smart tactic, especially since you then get to, like, make more profits off of films that have already been made. I think, profit wise, it’s smart. I think culturally, it’s going to remind people just how special that theatrical experience is. And so then that’ll further incentive more people to go to theaters.

You can catch The Dark Knight from April 1st to April 11th. Interstellar from April 17th to the 18th, Inception from April 24th to the 25th, Insomnia from May 1st to May 2nd, and Dunkirk from May 8th to the 9th. You can look for tickets at your local Regal movie theaters.
