Super Tuesday’s primary elections results position Trump and Biden for a likely November rematch. Annenberg Media asked students how they felt about this potential face-off.
Azka Sattar - junior psychology major
“I genuinely feel like it could go either way … because I feel like Biden … for all the choices and everything, is quite old. And I don’t feel like he should be in charge of an entire country at this age. But then, Trump is also pretty old, and he has so many problems, too.”
Taylor Thorell - junior intelligence and cyber operations major
“I think Americans only have ever had one president who won an election after not being president for a term, so I think that a possible rematch is interesting -- especially when given the current climate.”
Anshuta Kakuste - engineering management master’s student
“I think for the past few years, I’ve seen … good development with respect to what Joe Biden has done. But this year, I feel like many of the candidates have stepped down, because Trump has been in a position of power. And I feel this year, maybe Trump might be in power. I’m not sure. I’m not sure of the reasons … as to why would that happen, but I feel like Trump has pretty good chances to be elected this year.”
“The leadership difference between Joe Biden and Trump has been … earth and sky. I can’t even start where the differences come true. But Joe Biden has been inclusive of all the viewpoints in his presidency. And whereas Trump is more — really more aggressive toward the business side within something. Anything that is profitable for him is something that he goes to invest in. So I feel like Joe Biden should get re-elected, but I am not sure if he’s gonna get it.”
Belle Tatsing - sophomore political science major
“Honestly, I wasn’t expecting it. I still can’t believe that it’s happening. I don’t understand why, but I guess history repeats itself…”
Ramsey Hauanio - freshman computer science/business administration major
“I’m a pretty liberal person, so I don’t like Trump. But then also democratically with all the stuff with the war going on [sic] between Israel and Palestine right now, I’m also not the hugest Biden fan either. So I just feel like politics in the U.S. right now, in general, is pretty abysmal.”
Amaya Nakpodia - senior film and T.V. production major
“Gen Z is really upset about how Biden has handled the recent Palestinian conflict and, at this point, war … I think that he really fumbled there, and I don’t see how he’s going to work his way back to getting our vote, honestly. So I’m a bit worried. I don’t want Trump to win.”
