INDIANAPOLIS — This year’s running backs comprise one of the most wide-open position groups of the class, but Louisville’s Isaac Guerendo and Tennessee’s Jaylen Wright stood out as two of the most athletic prospects on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday with impressive 40-yard dashes and long/broad jumps.
Guerendo notched the fastest 40 time of the day at 4.33, as well as the best vertical jump at 41.5 inches. In a class with a number of smaller backs, Guerendo leading the pack at 6-0, 221 lbs will certainly intrigue teams looking for exceptional athleticism in a pro-level frame. His 10-foot-9 broad was the second-best of the group, and he looked quick and fluid in field drills.

Wright’s 4.38-second 40 made him the second-fastest back of the day, yet he seemed to expect a better time, glancing up at the jumbotron with a look of disgust after crossing the finish line. His broad jump, however, lead the running back group by nearly half a foot at 11-foot-2, and his 38-inch vertical was fourth-best at the position. His ability to carry 210 lbs on a 5-10 1/2 frame proved no issue as he demonstrated himself to be one of the class’ most athletic backs.
