To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Annenberg Student Services hosted a mixer earlier today with sweet treats, raffle prizes and crafts.
Dr. Kelly Greco, an associate professo atr the Keck School of Medicine and Annenberg’s embedded counselor, also gave a talk on how to find fulfillment and happiness for students.
Here’s Greco on the importance of community engagement at Annenberg.
Greco: Happiness starts with ourselves, and we have to cultivate it and create it. And I think a lot of times, especially maybe what we see on social media or what we learn is, we create or find happiness when outcomes and things happen. So, we just wanted to create a place where we have fun and doing arts and crafts and eating and talking about wellness and mental health, and how it starts with us. And just, as I always say, learning new tools to put in our toolkit, because life can be really stressful.
Syente Gosh, a senior studying communications, is trying to make the most of her last semester at USC by attending events sponsored by Annenberg.
Gosh: I think Valentine’s is a good time to sort of remind yourself that you need to love yourself no matter what’s going on around you, no matter you know how much pressure you’re putting yourself into, it’s important to love yourself. It’s only when you love yourself that you can love others so yeah, that’s my motto. I’ve been giving out candy grams flowers to my friends, people who mean the most to me, and this event is a great place to you know, just meet people and remind yourself of that.
As students made Valentine’s Day candy grams and bracelets, love for Annenberg was truly in the air.
