After this weekend, it looks like the fandom of Barbz is beginning to crumble.
Another music artist feud has made it way to headlines, this time, between rappers Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion.
This is freshman Harmony Jones.
Harmony Jones: I’ve seen it, like between TikTok and Instagram, but I honestly know nothing, which makes me so sad. I haven’t had time to sit down and listen to their songs, so I need to do that.
The two previously worked together for the 2019 hit “Hot Girl Summer.” But any signs of friendship that formed from this collab were immediately shutdown midnight on Friday with the release of Megan’s song “Hiss”
A lyric in the song using “Megan’s law” is what is rumored to trigger Minaj. The law requires information on sex offenders to be available to the public. The line took a dig at the rapper’s husband, who is a registered sex offender.
Only a few days later, Minaj followed up with a diss track of her own “Big Foot.”
The song calls doubt on Megan’s incident with singer Tory Lanez, who is now serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan in the foot in 2020.
What has turned off Barbz from the rapper, deals with the line that fans think is a comment on Megan’s mother who died in 2019.
This is sophomore Serena Yang.
Serena Yang: I heard she was hella out of, Nicki was hella out of pocket and telling stuff about Megan’s past mom like that passed away, which is so out of pocket.
This is senior Alana Bright.
Alana Bright: I don’t know what happened behind closed doors, but Megan said some kind of true things about her lifestyle and what she supports. And then Nicki kind of just said, you’re you’re tall, bitch. So, I mean, that’s really nothing Megan has control over and can’t really say the same for the other situation.
This isn’t the first time for either rappers to be caught up in a feud. Although it has reached multiple platforms, there are still those out there who haven’t heard about it.
This is junior Jack Martin.
Jack Martin: I think it’s a good way for them to make money... Probably a stunt. Usually ends up being a stunt, but they might not like each other.
After the release of tracks from both sides, who knows how far this feud will continue. Could it end in a matter of a week or will fans receive albums covering all that’s unraveled between the two?
