Jordan Ward
The 28-year-old dancer-turned-singer released his current album “FORWARD” back in March 2023 following it up months later with a deluxe album “moreward (FORWARD)” giving fans exactly what they wanted. His popular song “FAMJAM4000″ starts funky yet upbeat with lyrics that give a true family jam session vibes. The track discusses the importance of family and maintaining relationships despite disagreements.
With his 2023 successes and 2024 show dates including a performance at Rolling Loud California in Inglewood, Ward is expected to bring more jams in 2024.
Hailey Knox
This 24-year-old singer and songwriter is no stranger to social media as she gained popularity with the covers that she posted. As she is still in the early stages of her career, she continues to leverage her social media platforms to provide insights into her creative process. Similar to artist JVKE, Knox previews and teases her songs online which keeps fans on their toes. With her two popular tracks “Charismatic” and “Future Me,” Knox showed them off to fans before their official release, which got them hooked instantly.
Knox’s last album was released in 2018, so hopefully she will drop a new album this year.
Moses Sumney
This alternative/indie and R&B singer recently toured with Daniel Caesar on his “Superpowers World Tour” as an opening act. Sumney captures his audience from the beginning with the addicting yet soothing sounds of the piano keys or guitar strums. His voice reminds you of the captivating sounds of Daniel Caesar and Frank Ocean, giving the ultimate allure. The comparison to these stars is most apparent in his popular songs “Plastic” and “Doomed,” which is what has fans wanting more.
During the artist’s Paris Fashion Week 2023 performance of his song “Doomed”, it seemed as though the entire world came to a standstill. The air resonated with his celestial voice, delivering a powerful and emotionally charged performance. Sumney serenades crowds with some of the most emotional songs that make time stop and magic fill the air while touring with Daniel Caesar.
After showing the world what he and his voice are capable of, 2024 will be sure to have more of his magical melodies and enchanting performances.
Victoria Monét
This Sacramento native has been in the spotlight in recent months as she went out on her sold-out solo tour called “The Jaguar Tour.” Clips of Monét commanding the stage with her singing and crowd interactions flooded social media feeds, leaving no doubt as to the reason. Her infectious stage presence is undeniable.
After spending time as a songwriter for artists and bands like Ariana Grande and Fifth Harmony, it is Monét’s time to shine. Her song “On My Mama” was recently everywhere and the choreography to the song turned into the viral #OnMyMamaChallenge. This had fans recreating the dance everywhere they went. Hopefully, 2024 is filled with more love, more dance challenges, and a whole lot more of Victoria Monét.
Thuy
Artist Thuy, a Bay area native, is making her mark on the R&B scene today. You may know her popular songs, “girls like me don’t cry” or “universe.” Both songs dominated TikTok this year, and the sped-up versions of both tracks gained enough popularity to get the attention of celebrities like Kylie Jenner.
During 2023, Thuy opened up for Ella Mai on her “Heart On My Sleeve” tour and went on her solo tour, the “Girls Like Me Don’t Cry” tour, which went around the U.S., Europe, and the United Kingdom. Thuy is a reminder of strong, true feminine power as an independent artist who is taking the world by storm. Her songs give old-school R&B with a twist of modern-day music that is sure to get stuck in your head. With her most recent single “don’t miss me too much,” fans are already screaming that they indeed miss her too much and want to hear more!
Jenevieve
Fans of this young R&B singer have been itching to see her next projects. You may know her from her hit track “Baby Powder,” which gained popularity in 2020, or seen her performance at L.A. Pride in the Park in May. The singer has not released any new projects since her single, “Christmas Special” in November 2022 but has been teasing fans via Instagram stories about new music coming soon.
It seems like there are bigger things in store for the groovy singer in 2024.
