A USC student-run production company, 4085 Production, will have a private screening for its first feature film, “All Alone Together,” next Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Bing Theatre.

The movie follows Lincoln, a filmmaker whose life takes a turn when he has difficulty handling the aftermath of his debut film’s success. Lincoln’s film, “Accompany,” begins to insert itself into his reality when the fictional entity, The Haunting, becomes a tormenting reality for the character, according to IMDB.

The movie stars producer Jordan Rice and writer Alex Nimrod, both seniors majoring in theater. More than 70 USC students also helped create the film.

Nimrod said he came up with the idea for the film after writing the basis of the plot as a short film during his freshman year. Rice said the film was shot over 34 days beginning in June 2022, and Nimrod said the editing happened over the course of about two years.

“This has been my magnum opus of my life thus far,” said Nimrod. “It has been a project that has been both a blessing and a curse. It has consumed my life literally for the past three years.”

Production of the film began during the COVID-19 pandemic and was completed using a limited budget of $15,000 acquired through fundraising.

“Making a feature film for $15,000 is practically unheard of in the industry,” said Rice. “A lot of that had to do with timing, and a lot of that had to do with the USC Trojan network.”

The extensive Trojan network brought the film to life, providing the creative team with a score made by Remote Control, sound editing by Emmy award-winning Jordan Aldinger and a Company 3 colorist.

The teaser trailer for the film was officially released in January 2023, after an initial showing in December 2022 at a film festival hosted by 4085 Productions.

“We pretended like the [event] was over and we were like, ‘All right everyone, thank you so much for coming in,’” said Nimrod. “And then someone in the sound booth cut the music, cut the lights and then we just played the trailer on the screen and it was kind of my first time actually seeing a live reaction to this thing.”

“People just ate it up,” he said. “At the jump scare moment, the whole audience went back and it was an inspiring moment.”

Rice said the team was working on applying to 36 film festivals for the film’s official premiere, though he’s hoping Monday’s event will draw roughly 300 for a preview screening.

“It’s going to be a beautiful night because everyone’s going to get to come together after literally years of grinding on this project,” said Rice.
