A Second Chance: Following the rescue of sea lions

With the rise of sea temperatures, there has been an increase of marine mammals in distress. This documentary follows the efforts of the Pacific Marine Mammal center to rescue, rehabilitate and release these animals.

Rising sea temperatures in the Pacific Ocean are causing toxic algae blooms. These blooms release a harmful neurotoxin called domoic acid which incapacitates marine mammals such as sea lions. In June 2023, there were reports of more than 200 marine mammals in distress each day. This documentary follows the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach to learn about their efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and ultimately release these animals.
