How would USC students spend the 700 Million Powerball Jackpot?

Ever since an Altadena woman won billions from the Powerball in November, the lottery has been on Californian’s minds; We asked students what they would buy if they were in her place.

In order to win the Powerball jackpot, your ticket must have all six correct numbers. Last night’s drawing was the 31st since a ticket with all the right numbers was sold. Computer science major Dennis Wang, sophomore mechanical engineering major Roland Pascual, and astronautic engineering major Henry Adam all have a similar idea of where they would begin.

Dennis Wang: I would spend it on houses...

Roland Pascual: Second thing, get a house.

Henry Adam: I would buy probably like an absurd number of houses, just like so many houses. Wherever houses are cheap, just buy a ton of houses there.

While getting a roof over their head might be a good start, where do these three want to settle down?

Henry Adam: I feel like I’ve heard that houses are cheap in Bali and stuff. That would be sick because you could go there and surf.

Dennis Wang: It’s probably going to be in the Bahamas on an island.

Roland Pascual: I wouldn’t know now, maybe with a little research, but yeah. Maybe somewhere in California.

Speaking of new places, two students, senior business admin. major Jennah Motani and econ. major Addison Gregory, have adventuresome aspirations.

Addison Gregory: I would probably travel because I’ve never really been outside the country.

Jennah Motani: I would travel, and I’d probably buy a boat because I’ve gotten really into sailing lately. So I’d probably buy a boat, like a really nice one, and travel the world.

Where do the two want to go? Gregory wants to go to Europe, and Motani wants to go tropical.

Addison Gregory: Oh, I think the Netherlands would be cool. France and then Belgium.

Jennah Motani: Oh Fiji, Tahiti, and Raja Ampat in Indonesia.

The Powerball lottery is played in 45 states, including Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico.
