We knew the question was going to come. Styles was bound to ask the crowd, “Did you dress up for Halloween?,” which is also one of the lyrics from his song “Little Freak.” The arena lights blazed towards the crowd during the performance and fans excitedly screamed the lyrics back to the singer in their extravagant costumes.
When Harry Styles Headquarters (HSHQ) officially announced the show as “Harryween” Saturday morning, fans were ecstatic. “Harries,” as Styles likes to call his fans, started speculating what the singer and his band would be dressed up as. Some ideas included Beetlejuice from the movie of the same name or Willy Wonka from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” Concertgoers and fans from around the world who were closely monitoring his wardrobe on social media were excited to see Styles top his Harryween costumes from his New York City shows last year: Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz” and a Pierrot clown.
Fans were so eager to be front row in the general admission section, also known as the “pit,” that they started camping out five days beforehand. They traveled from many cities for this anticipated show, one of Styles’ 15 shows at the Forum in his historic residency.
Tents lined the Kia Forum and over 800 wristbands were given out to fans who were camping out. One fan who flew in from the United Kingdom started camping out on October 26 and ended up being number 25 in the line for the pit. After receiving their numbered wristbands, fans with general admission tickets gained early access to purchasing Harryween-themed T-shirts and tote bags. This exclusive collection was only available the day of the show and was sold out by the time doors opened at the Forum.
The Forum went all out for Styles and his fans by setting up a Ferris wheel, providing tarot card readings, face painting and even selling a specialty drink called the “Little Freak” latte. Not only did the team at the Kia Forum give their all for “Harryween,” but so did Harries themselves: Fans were dressed to impress as characters from his recently released movie “Don’t Worry Darling,” the squid from Styles’ music video for “Music for a Sushi Restaurant,” past iconic outfits from the Grammys and the “Fine Line” album cover.
When showtime arrived, fans immediately knew who Styles was dressed up as when his band walked out in “Grease” – themed outfits to iconic tunes like “You’re The One That I Want.” Styles himself then rose up from the middle of the stage as Danny Zuko, John Travolta’s character from “Grease.” To complete the theme, he also sang “Hopelessly Devoted to You.”
Aside from fans, there were also a few well-known faces spotted at Harryween. Celebrities sightings have not been rare for Styles’ L.A. residency shows so far, but at this special show, familiar faces like TikTok creator Chris Olsen, celebrity stylist Harry Lambert and music producers Tyler Johnson and Kid Harpoon stopped by to enjoy the party.
Olsen got to share a cheeky moment with Danny Zuko from his seat in the audience. When he showed up on the jumbotron with a sign that said “Daddy?” Styles took the bait and replied saying “Yes?” The crowd roared in response to Styles’ answer and it was one of many playful interactions that night.
No matter how bizarrely funny Styles’ on stage interactions with fans are, or what costumes he’s wearing, his fans are “Hopelessly Devoted” to him.
