Several vending machines around campus now have QR codes. Students can scan them to win various prizes including a pair of Coachella tickets says business admin major Sarah Gavin. She is one of TMG’s project managers on the collaboration with Coca-Cola.

Sarah Gavin: ‘So they took over five Coke vending machines here on campus. And the goal for the students was to scan the QR codes and just essentially go trick-or-treating like we did when we were kids.’

Some of the other prizes include AR masks, digital collectibles and limited edition PUMA apparel.

Gavin says an important part of the hunt is that it’s free.

Sarah Gavin: ‘All you have to do is scan the QR code on the machine’s website and you input your phone number and your email. It’s also no purchase necessary, which I think a lot of people didn’t know, is you didn’t have to buy a Coke or anything. You just go for fun.’

Gavin says the escapade has been popular.

Sarah Gavin: ‘It was awesome to see, you know, non-TMG people all over looking around, looking at the map. At every machine I went to there were people there scanning it. So it was like awesome to see, I think on both ends, just like it was like a mutually beneficial situation.’

Today’s the final day to scan the machines and win the prizes. Happy trick-or-treating.
