October means spooky season has arrived. But if a scary movie isn’t your ideal way to celebrate the Halloween festivities, maybe a pumpkin patch is. In this sound portrait we take you to Irvine Regional Park for their annual pumpkin patch.

Tiffany Gonzalez: My name is Tiffany. I work in the office for Irvine Park Railroad, particularly as the reservation specialist.

Tiffany Gonzalez: So what we have going on in the park at this time is our pumpkin patch event.

Tiffany Gonzalez: Some of the attractions that we have here are train rides, hay rides. We also have carnival games, pumpkin decorating, cookie decorating.

Tiffany Gonzalez: And especially with the zoo being so close and hiking trails. And it’s just a place that many people have visited when they were children and they come back later and bring their children.

Tiffany Gonzalez: We get guests of all ages that visit the pumpkin patch from preschoolers all the way up to adults on date nights. There’s plenty of photo opportunities here and carnival games going on, so there’s much to do for anyone of any age.

Tiffany Gonzalez: It’s just something very special, especially when we hear stories like that. I myself used to come here when I was a baby. So it’s so funny seeing photos of myself, being little, riding the train. And then now here I work for the trains. So it’s it’s fantastic to me. I have so much fun.
