Will Smith issues an apology to Chris Rock after slapping him on stage at the Oscars

The apology comes after The Academy of Motion Pictures opened an inquiry into the ‘Oscars Slap’

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences said in a statement they condemn Will Smith’s actions at the Oscars and have started “a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences.” Students and a USC entertainment journalism professor share the significance of the incident and their reactions. The Apple Original film CODA took home three Oscars and a member of USC’s American Sign Language club shares the significance of the win for the deaf community. A local Jewish school partners with a non-profit organization to support Ukrainian refugees.
