Students will no longer need to wear masks in classrooms or dining halls beginning March 7, read a notice from Provost Charles Zukoski to the student body on Friday. The guidelines come following the revised health order issued by the Los Angeles Department of Public Health.
The CDC placed Los Angeles in the “low risk of transmission” category, owing to low levels of cases and hospitalizations. USC reflects the statistics with less than 1% of COVID-19 cases on campus, among students and faculty.
With the spring break around the corner, students were advised to avail pop testing services prior to their travel plans and take a take-home antigen test 24 hours before their return.
The email notified that students will also be allowed to enter labs, offices, libraries, dining halls and gyms without masks. However, masks will be mandatory in health care buildings and sites, and public transportation or in the situation of an outbreak. Moreover, no changes have been made with regards to Trojan Check tracking yet.
The notice also said unvaccinated individuals will still be required to test every 72 hours and those students not up to date with their vaccinations, twice every week.
