Trojans in the NFL: Week 12

Rasheem Green makes a name for himself with a 85-yard scoop and score.

Only one touchdown was scored among these former Trojans, but a blocked extra point returned for a score is much more exciting.

Rasheem Green

Who says a 280-pound lineman can’t score? In the Seattle Seahawks’ 17-15 loss Monday to the Washington Football Team, Seahawks defensive end Rasheem Green blocked an extra point attempt and returned it 85 yards for a two-point conversion. The blocked extra point was just the second of the season. According to ESPN, Green is the first player to block, recover and score off an extra point. In addition to the scoop and score, Green finished with two tackles.

Ronald Jones II

Ronald Jones II rushed seven times for 37 yards and a touchdown in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 38-31 victory Sunday over the Indianapolis Colts. Jones has now scored a touchdown in consecutive games for the first time this season. His score was a one-yard run that helped Tampa Bay take back the lead at the end of the third quarter. Despite the score, fellow running back Leonard Fournette dominated the backfield with 131 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns, averaging nearly six yards per carry. Nevertheless, Jones has seen a more consistent role in the Buccaneers backfield over the past two weeks.

Michael Pittman Jr.

On the opposing sideline, Michael Pittman Jr. had four catches for 53 yards in the Colts’ loss to the Buccaneers. Despite being third on the team in receiving yards and not scoring a touchdown, Pittman led all Colts receivers with 10 targets. Pittman’s longest play of the day was a 23-yard reception. He was targeted on a deep ball in the third quarter, but the pass was intercepted. Both of quarterback Carson Wentz’s interceptions were intended for Pittman.

Nelson Agholor

Nelson Agholor caught all three of his targets for 20 yards in the New England Patriots’ 36-13 win over the Tennessee Titans. It was a quiet day for Agholor — a 10-yard reception was his biggest play of the game. Wide receivers Jakobi Meyers and Kendrick Bourne combined for 159 yards and two touchdowns in the victory and continue to lead the New England receiving corps. Agholor’s 20 yards were the fewest since Week 3 when he had two catches for 17 yards. Agholor and the Patriots take on the Buffalo Bills next week in a highly anticipated AFC East battle.

Amon-Ra St. Brown

Amon-Ra St. Brown had four catches for 23 yards in the Detroit Lions’ 16-14 Thanksgiving Day loss to the Chicago Bears. The rookie was a non-factor, averaging just 5.8 yards per reception. St. Brown caught all four of his targets, however, for his third straight game with four receptions. His main usage continues to be in short-yardage situations on an offense that ranks in the bottom three in touchdowns scored.
