The preliminary hearing for Ivan Hernandez, the man accused of killing USC Thornton student Victor McElhaney was moved after Hernandez failed to show in court on Tuesday. The hearing originally scheduled for Nov. 16 has been rescheduled to Nov. 30.

Hernandez is charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted robbery in the death of McElhaney. The 21-year-old student was shot and killed at 11 a.m. on March 10, 2019, approximately one mile from USC’s main campus. LAPD arrested Hernandez on June 28, 2019. It is unclear why Hernandez was not present in court.

Hernandez’s defense attorney R.J Manuelian has not immediately responded to Annenberg Media’s request for comment.
