Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced Wednesday that he tested positive for COVID-19. Garcetti, who is fully vaccinated, is currently in Glasgow, Scotland to attend a United Nations conference on climate change.
Garcetti said in a Tweet that he “is feeling good and isolating in his hotel room.”
The mayor was scheduled to moderate a discussion Wednesday about the developing negotiations at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties.
Garcetti was originally set to return to Los Angeles at the end of the week. As the chair of the C40 group, he spoke at the conference Tuesday.
This positive case comes nearly 10 months after Garcetti received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in January. Garcetti’s mayoral term ends in December 2022.
